Ok, so I screwed up a few years ago but am in some chex systems list, but I was wondering if I can truly get one of those accounts or is it a scam?

Some banks are more lenient on people who are on ChexSystems, mostly if you have cleared your previous debt. You can find a list of those banks here: approvedchecking.blogspot.com

Make sure you are not on the blacklist...i know someone who is....there are many free checking accts but make sure you dont owe fees..

Its tough to be in that 'list', its going to stay there for a good 5 years... but its true, you can get a 'second chance' for a savings or checking account... i came across an article about second chance checking accounts, it sheds some light on some questions that we have...
